There are many ways to make rice with or without a rice cooker. The ratio of rice and water varies depending on how you like your rice cooked. It seems there’s not a huge difference between rice cooked in a rice cooker and in a pot. There are many types of rice such as Thai jasmine rice, California rose rice, which I’ve been using. Congee is also simple to make, very comforting just like soup.

My ratios of rice making:
For a rice cooker, 2 cups rice, 1 3/4 cups water
For a pot, 2 cups rice, 2 1/2 cups water
For congee, 1 cup rice, 9 cups water

Note: the rice measuring cup is different from the standard cup. Adjust the ratios according to your own liking.
