Five Spice Boiled Peanuts

It can’t get easier than boiling peanuts, can it? For best results, leave peanuts in the liquid overnight to soak all the flavors. Enjoy this tasty snack!

1 pound fresh raw peanuts in shell
3 star anise
1 cinnamon stick
30 Sichuan peppercorns
2 bay leaves
3 chili peppers (optional)
2 tsp salt

1. Rinse and strain the peanuts;
2. Place in a pot, add all the spices, and fill up water to cover peanuts;
3. Bring to boil on high heat, turn down to medium low, and cover to cook about 40 minutes;
4. Turn off heat, and let peanuts sit about 30 minutes before enjoying. Ideally, leave them in the liquid in the refrigerator overnight for the best flavor.
